Thirty-one Northeastern students, graduates and affiliated entrepreneurs have been selected as recipients of the university’s 2025 Women Who Empower Innovator Awards. Now in its fifth year, the initiative has invested more than $1.8 million in funding to members of Northeastern’s entrepreneurial community as they build and advance their endeavors.
Muskaan “Mukki” Gill, E'26, knows how difficult it can be living with seizures. Her younger brother, Zor, has Dravet syndrome, a genetic disorder that causes random, frequent and prolonged seizures. Seeing how this affected her brother's life, the 2024 Innovator Awards recipient created ZOR!, an app that will help patients and caretakers track their seizures, along with the help of 16 of her Northeastern classmates. A beta version of the app is expected to launch on September 1, 2025.
Northeastern graduate Melissa Montelione Clayton combined business smarts, an entrepreneurial spirit and devotion to her children to create Tiny Tags, a fine jewelry company that celebrates motherhood with customizable name tags, lockets and bracelets.
The founder of RevUp Capital and 2023 Women Who Empower Innovator Awards recipient recently spoke at Northeastern, where she advised young entrepreneurs to get educated about all the kinds of capital that founders can use to build businesses and to understand how different kinds of capital work in different circumstances.
Northeastern’s community rose up in unprecedented numbers Thursday for the university’s eighth annual Giving Day. The entrepreneurial festival generated $3.5 million from close to 14,000 donors—with both totals shattering records at Northeastern. One hundred percent of donations go to the faculty, teams, student organizations and academic programs associated with Giving Day—directly helping students and faculty pursue their ambitions.
During the month of March, Northeastern University’s Roux Institute brought two Women Who Empower events to life. Partnering with Northeastern’s Alliance of Civically Engaged Students, Asprelli organized the preparation of 1,000 beauty product kits valued in total at $200,000. These kits will be distributed to 10 organizations serving women in need across Boston and beyond.
The Huskies won the women’s championship for the third straight year and 20th time overall, shutting out Boston University before 13,279 fans at TD Garden. The crowd was the largest to ever watch a women’s hockey game in New England—breaking last year’s Women’s Beanpot record of 10,633—and the fifth largest in women’s college hockey history.
